Last Thursday I attended Casamigos Influential Bloggers Evening.
Those of you who are fans of George Clooney and Cindy Crawford will be familiar with the Casamigos brand as they recently celebrated the launch of her new book ‘Becoming’ and Casamigos Tequila at The Beaumont Hotel in London, but those of you who are not familiar with this tequila, it’s 3 founders are George Clooney, Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman.
George, Rande and Mike all shared a common love for tequila and tasted over 700 different tequilas with the intent of creating the perfect tequila to privately drink themselves between friends and family. 5 years on and they are now able to share it with the public and to this day is still the only drink that Clooney will drink; straight and always on the rocks.
It was a fun-filled evening of tequila tasting held at Peyote restaurant who paired it with several delicious Mexican servings.
We were offered two bespoke cocktails upon arrival; the Casamigos Margarita and the Casamigos Sour.
I opted for Casamigos Sour which tasted wonderfully like candy fused with a high quality whisky and a citrusy kick.
Following this, we tried the three expressions from light to dark, Casamigos Blanco, The Reposado and The Anjeo.
If you like your drink crisp with a sweet hint of citrus then you would definitely enjoy The Blanco.
The most popular drink on the table for us bloggers was The Reposado which is aged for 7 months giving you an oaky taste with a silky texture and smooth finish making it the easiest of the 3 to enjoy.
My personal favourite however, was the Anjeo the darkest of the three, this one is aged for 14 months and smells wonderfully similar to dark chocolate. A sip of the Anjeo and you could taste a hint of caramel fused with vanilla notes.
Unlike most tequila’s this tequila is made from 100% agave (only the best for George Clooney), so you won’t get that burning sensation.
The 3 founders intended to create a tequila so pure that you wouldn’t need to mask over the taste with salt and lime, true to their word they did just that.
I was slightly apprehensive about whether or not I’d be able to make my 9am PR meeting the next day to discuss my blog, having had a cocktail and 3 glasses of tequila on a school night. To my surprise I woke up with zero hang over, must be down to the quality of tequila!
I brought my boyfriend along to the event who absolutely loved it and wants to have a collection at home, so that’s my christmas shopping made easier!
If you’re on the look out for christmas gift ideas check out their website here www.CasamigosTequila.com or if you’d like to try a glass yourself then head down to PeyoteRestaurant.com and try the grilled cactus while you’re there.

Christmas gift sets will be available this weekend at Harvey Nichols and Selfridges.
