10. Stella McCartneyFalabella

Hats off to Stella for ambitiously creating an eco-friendly and cruelty-free fashion empire, not only has it revolutionised the industry by creating sustainable and organic pieces without the use of leather but it has also empowered us by giving us the opportunity to appreciate fashion in a considerate way. The lining of the Falabella is made of recycled plastic bottles, that fact alone has earned this bag’s place in the top 10.

9. Proenza SchoulerPS11

The sophisticated sister of the PS1 landed on the runway in 2010. It’s structured folds and silver hardware make it robust enough to dart alongside the working girl and serve its purpose in the city.

8. Christian DiorLady Dior

Number 8 is the underrated and feminine Lady Dior. This dainty, neat, little package complements an A line dress perfectly for that graceful, Parisian look and transitions well from day to night.

7. ValentinoRockstud Clutch

The ever-popular Rockstud clutch. I need a clutch but I’m constantly going back and forth and can’t decide between the Rockstud or the Falabella: what do you guys think?

6. HermesHimalayan Birkin

Here it is ladies and gentlemen, the most expensive Birkin bag to ever go on sale. This jaw-dropping rarity is made of Nilo crocodile with 18-karot white gold hardware and over 246 diamonds. It will set you back a cool £146,000 if you’re happy to live in a cardboard box with no food or drink for the rest of your life.

5. Saint LaurentMonogramme Satchel

The Creative Director of Saint Laurent, Hedi Slimane, brought us the Monogramme Satchel. It’s flawless design is precisely the right balance between glam-rock and chic and as a result, looks great with any outfit.

4. Louis VuittonLouise bag

Louis Vutton’s Louise gives Saint Laurent’s monogramme satchel a run for it’s money, but if I had to choose I’d pick Louise as I’m not a fan of the chain running along the top of the monogramme flap, when it’s that close a call – it’s all about the details!

3. BalenciagaGiant City

Worn by the likes of Kate Moss, Sofia Vergara, Nicole Richie, Sarah Jessica Parker and The Olsen Twins, this bag has been papped more times than Suri Cruise.

2. CelineLuggage Tote

You didn’t think I’d leave out the Celine Luggage Tote did you? A decade on and this highly coveted, well-loved bag is still going strong, the luggage tote hit the it-bag status as soon as it hit the scene and put Celine on the map generating a surge of visitors, a long waiting list and a high-demand for second-hand sellers.

1. ChanelBoy Bag

My number #1 is by far the most photographed bag, the Chanel Boy. I have applauded and admired this bag in every colour and every texture and if I got my hands on one I would sit beside it, sleep beside it and eat beside it. My favourite range was released in Spring 2012, go ahead, google it and marvel at it – my favourite piece from their ‘exceptional range’ is the white boy bag embellished in red roses, stunningly unforgettable. Great work Karl!

Whoever got flats to trend; our feet are thankful.

For the longest time heels were practically the uniform for those working in the fashion industry, from shop floor through to the PR boardroom and our poor little toes need a truly deserved horizontal break. Might I also add that juggling multiple trays of coffee for the office in heels is a skill that deserves as much applause as a unicyclist on a tightrope.

Nope, working in fashion is not as glamorous as you may well think. It’s not sitting behind your desk with admiring your pretty little Giuseppe Zanotti feet; it’s running for the tube in heels, walking stylists through the showroom while your soles burn and attending press appointments on the other side of town.

But the troops, the real troops, are those poor fashion interns lugging samples across from one end of the city to the other, going through boxes of band aid as rapidly an Editor goes through cups of coffee. This post is dedicated to you guys!

Here are my 5 flats for every occasion…
